The disclosure table lists the state "Yes" for FNP and PMHNP as of September 2026, New Hampshire's placement filings are written for pre-licensure schools, and a multistate license covers sites there.

Sacred Heart's New Hampshire rows
Every NP program Sacred Heart offers online is recorded as meeting New Hampshire's educational requirements, and the Clinical Nurse Leader carries a "Yes" across the country. Sacred Heart teaches across state lines under NC-SARA, which it joined January 11, 2017. Confirm your row with Sacred Heart before enrolling or moving, since the catalog places that check with you.

Nur 602.15 and who has to file
New Hampshire's Board of Nursing sits within OPLC, the state Office of Professional Licensure and Certification, and it keeps close watch on out-of-state clinical placements for schools preparing students for a first license. Nur 602.15(j) has such a school register its intent with the Board, then give six weeks' warning before each planned placement. Three documents make up the file: Form A, a yearly petition; Part B, completed rotation by rotation; and a signed Clinical Preceptor Agreement for each preceptor.
OPLC's page puts programs for nurses who already hold a license, such as RN-BSN and RN-MSN, beyond the Board's reach. Sacred Heart's NP students are licensed nurses already, so those forms are not theirs. One loose end: the Legal Information Institute's copy of the rule lists January 23, 2026 as its expiration, while OPLC still cited it that month, and readoption was not confirmed.
Licensing: New Hampshire and its neighbors
Compact membership took effect in New Hampshire on January 19, 2018. A New Hampshire resident's multistate license covers clinics at home and in other member states such as Vermont and Maine, and a multistate nurse from elsewhere can train in New Hampshire on that license. Either way you meet Sacred Heart's call for an active, unencumbered license where you train.
Massachusetts is different for now. It has passed the compact but not put it into effect, and the target date is May 2027, so a Massachusetts clinic still calls for a Massachusetts license. For the upload itself, see our RN license guide.
Manchester, Nashua, Concord and the Boston fringe
The Manchester-Nashua metro holds about 433,000 people and the Concord micropolitan area about 158,000, while some 459,000 Granite Staters live inside the Boston-Cambridge-Newton metro. Dartmouth Health, which includes Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, heads the list of systems NP students contact. Others on the list: Catholic Medical Center, an HCA Healthcare hospital; the Concord Hospital Health System; and two systems, Elliot and Southern New Hampshire Health, whose shared parent may be changing. None is presented as a Sacred Heart site.
Those two founded SolutionHealth together, and a July 2025 proposal from their boards would dissolve it. Confirm who signs contracts for a site today before the Contract Request Form asks for that contact. For the wider region, see our New England guide.
Full practice and the drive to Fairfield
New Hampshire is a full practice state in AANP's ratings, so NP preceptors there work on their own license, and Sacred Heart's FNP list also takes board-certified physicians and PAs. Getting to residencies is simpler from New Hampshire than from far-off states. The online MSN FNP holds two competency residencies on the Fairfield campus, one in NU 552 and one as NU 621 wraps up, and the certificates hold one each year; from here that is a drive rather than a flight. Questions Sacred Heart students ask
Do I file anything with the New Hampshire Board for NP clinicals?
Students file nothing. The Nur 602.15(j) forms belong to schools, and the rule is written for out-of-state pre-licensure programs, while OPLC lists post-licensure programs as outside Board regulation. If a New Hampshire site asks about Board paperwork anyway, send the question to the MSN Online NP Programs Clinical Coordinator.
Can I use a Massachusetts clinic near the border?
It is possible with Sacred Heart's approval. Massachusetts reads Yes on Sacred Heart's NP table and is one of the states its preceptor portal names for particular need. Until Massachusetts implements the compact, though, you need a Massachusetts license for that rotation, plus an affiliation agreement if the clinic is new to Sacred Heart. See the Massachusetts page.
Does the Connecticut Hospital Association test apply to New Hampshire clinicals?
Sacred Heart requires the CHA Health & Safety Test, passed at 85 or above, only of students whose clinicals are in Connecticut. A rotation in New Hampshire does not trigger that requirement. If you later add a Connecticut site, for instance near Fairfield, the test applies to that placement.
Are Vermont or Maine options for some rotations?
They can be. Vermont and Maine sit on the Yes side of Sacred Heart's FNP and PMHNP table and inside the compact, so a New Hampshire multistate license reaches them. Each clinic still needs Sacred Heart's approval and an affiliation agreement if it has none, and a long commute eats into clinical days, so weigh the distance.
